Project Profile

Regional Economic Impact Analysis of Fort Leonard Wood

Cities of St. Robert and Waynesville Missouri
Start Date: Jul 2016 — End Date: Jun 2017

CREC and its partner, the Leonard Wood Institute, studied and quantified the impacts stemming from the 2013 actual, and the 2015 announced personnel reductions on Fort Leonard Wood military base. This included an analysis on topic areas including employment and workforce impacts, retail and lodging, housing, schools, small business and suppliers, social and public services, transportation and other infrastructure, health care, energy, public safety, agriculture, and military family support. The analysis and assessment informed strategies to mitigate the impacts and provide recommendations for local and regional actions based on identified strategies that can make the cities, county and region less affected by future military reductions at Fort Leonard Wood.
