May 9, 2016

The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) released the 2016 County Level Index.

The dataset includes 3,114 US counties based on an econometric model that identifies key determinants of an area’s cost of living. Supplemental publications include the 2016 State Level Index and the Cost of Living Adjusted (COLI) Median Household Income.

To purchase these publications, please visit the COLI Store. For additional information or any questions you may have, please contact Jennie Allison or call 703-522-4980.

C2ER produces the Cost of Living Index (COLI) to provide a useful and reasonably accurate measure to compare cost of living differences among urban areas. Items on which the Index is based have been carefully chosen to reflect the different categories of consumer expenditures. Weights assigned to relative costs are based on government survey data on expenditure patterns for mid-management households. All items are priced in each place at a specified time and according to standardized specifications
